Dr. James Boyd – Medical Director – MBBS, FRACGP ♂
I grew up in England and studied medicine in Wales at Cardiff University. As a junior doctor I came to Australia in 2008 for a ‘working holiday’ on the North Coast of NSW but I enjoyed the experience so much that I never returned home. After completing various hospital rotations at Lismore Base Hospital and in Newcastle, I decided that General Practice was the career I wanted to pursue, and I completed my GP training in the Northern Rivers. I like the variety of General Practice and the continuity of care that it enables. I enjoy the full spectrum of General Practice presentations and particular interests of mine include mental health, chronic disease management and indigenous health.
Dr. Patrick Carter- – BHthSc, MBBS, FRACGP ♂
Dr Patrick Carter is an experienced General Practitioner who has worked in rural and regional NSW for many years. He joined Lismore GP Super Clinic in August 2021, where he provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Dr Carter completed his General Practice training in Kempsey and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2017. He has extensive experience in general practice, with a broad range of clinical interests and experience managing the many and varied health concerns encountered in primary care.
Before entering general practice, Dr Carter worked across a range of hospital specialties, including emergency medicine, intensive care, general medicine, geriatrics and rehabilitation, general surgery and medical assessment.
He enjoys the variety of general practice and building long-term relationships with patients and their families. His experience working in regional communities has given him a strong appreciation of the importance of accessible, personalised and holistic healthcare.
Dr Carter holds a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Notre Dame Australia and a Bachelor of Health Science (Hearing and Speech) from the University of Sydney.
Dr. Anjum Mehmood – MD ♂
Commenced practice at Lismore GP Super Clinic in March 2022.

Graduated from University of Medicine 1, Yangon, Myanmar in 2010. Has worked in Jamaica for 2 years before starting a medical journey in Australia in 2015. Worked in various specialties at different hospitals in Queensland including 3 years of practice in emergency medicine. Then, I started my GP career in 2021.
My areas of interest are Family Medicine, Diabetes Management, Minor Surgical Procedures, Men’s Health, Immunisations, Preventative Health and Child & Adolescent Health.

I graduated from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2009 and completed my specialist training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Colombo in 2021. I migrated to Australia in 2021 and initially worked in the Emergency Department at Lismore Base Hospital.
I am committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care, with a special interest in preventive health, chronic disease management, and men’s health. I value the continuity and holistic approach that general practice offers.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature and exploring the outdoors.

I am a GPT1 Registrar who graduated from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. I migrated to Australia in 2019 and spent the past two years working at Lismore Base Hospital, with a strong focus on critical care medicine. I have recently transitioned into general practice and am looking forward to working closely with the Northern Rivers and Lismore community.
I am committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care, with special interests in preventive health, chronic disease management, and women’s health. I am a dedicated doctor who graduated in Brazil, where I completed my Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before relocating to Australia. Since moving here in 2016 with my husband and two children, I have worked as a junior doctor across Adelaide, Geelong, and Brisbane, gaining broad clinical experience in a range of hospital settings. These roles have strengthened my clinical skills and confirmed my passion for medicine, helping me realise that General Practice is the career that truly aligns with my values and long‑term goals.
I feel grateful for the opportunity to join the Northern Rivers community and I’m looking forward to support patients through all stages of life with empathy and making a positive difference in their health and wellbeing.
